We chat to Hampshire resident and businessman, Barry Walker in another of our 'Your Hampshire' series; exploring Hampshire via it's residents and community.
Q. Where in Hampshire do you live?
A. Monk Sherborne – just west of Basingstoke
Q. Where do you like to go on a rainy day?
A.As we are always working on the Hampshire Deli & Farm Shop which I run, there is always a project, so on a rainy Sunday I would be decorating something.
However, as a moment of pure indulgence, on a rainy day, preferably a Sunday, a good Sunday roast, with local beef, Yorkshire puddings, a couple of large G&Ts from one of Hampshire fantastic distillers, in a good Hampshire county pub.
Q. Where is the best place for a cuppa?
A. You wouldn't expect me to say anywhere else, would you?! In our coffee shop at the Hampshire Deli and Farm Shop at Tadley
4. What is your favourite walk?
A.I love to stretch my legs walking on Watership Down, on the Gallops above Kingsclere
Q. What do you recommend people do when they visit for the first time?
A. To try our cheeses! We only sell British cheeses here in our shop and we think we have one of the best selections in Hampshire. This includes the award-winning Tunworth cheese from the Hampshire Cheese Co.
Q. Where is your favourite spot in Hampshire?
A. I love crossing on the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Its like going on a mini- adventure!
Thanks for sharing Your Hampshire with us Barry. It sounds as if we definitely need to come up to visit you again soon in the north of the county
