Silchester Farm, Hampshire

We talk to Amie Haynes, Sales Director, at the magnificent Silchester Farm, an event and wedding venue with luxury accommodation

For someone who has never visited Silchester Farm, how would you describe it?

I can only describe the farm as ‘the perfect escape’. Our hidden treasure, tucked away from the hustle and bustle – offering a retreat for absolutely any occasion! We are able to host the most beautiful events, giving us an opportunity to work with both our couples and clients on a one to one basis – and also open our doors to guests looking for a place to stay and indulge in the tranquillity of the farm. Our plans to elevate every experience our never ending – and we have a dedicated team who thrive on excellent customer service and the opportunity to spoil and look after every one who visits

As well as being an amazing wedding venue, you have some delightful accommodation which guests can come and stay in? Give us a flavour of the different accommodation options that you offer

We have multiple luxury lodgings ensuring that whatever your party size there is an opportunity to stay. Our Farmhouse, sleeps 15, which is grade 11 listed and filled to the brim with original features , is completely charming. The Barnhouse, blends old and new style offering a bright and cosey space for 12. The Granary, perched above the mushrooms and our 9 people sized pig arcs – The Pyggies – ensure that if just a break for 2, you have everything you might possible need. We want the farm to be your ‘happy place’ and every room, suite and social space has been carefully designed to ensure its both comfortable, but just ‘boujie’ enough.

You offer great facilities for a corporate break – an opportunity to escape from the busy and sometime hectic work environment. Why might a company from London, for instance, choose Silchester Farm for their next escape?

If you want to inspire your team, there is no better place to start. We are conveniently located just under an hour from the capital – and whilst our rural setting offers both chance to indulge in fresh thinking, and space to really connect – we are also extremely versatile. If there is a small collection of colleagues looking to explore the countryside, open their minds to new ideas and brainstorming for their annual kick off -we can help. If there are 100 of you looking for a space to hose presentations, training and break outs – all at the same time – we can help. From product launches to awards and celebrations, Silchester Farm can cater for every event. Our team ensure a tailored and bespoke service – like no other.

There seem to be a whole host of events on the site throughout the year. How can people find out more about them?

We populate our calendar with as many in house events as often as possible, so keep an eye on the diary as there is always something coming up for every one in the family!

You run a shop selling local produce, open to all 7 days a week. What kind of produce do you sell and do you try, whenever possible, to promote local products?

At Trough Farmshop, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced produce. Our selection includes Fresh fruit and vegetables grown at the farm itself, Bread, pastries, and treats baked in our kitchen, Free-range meats, poultry, and game from trusted local butcher, and lamb grazed on the farm, Local honey, Craft beverages such as locally brewed beers as well as our own range of Wingless spirits.

We’re passionate about supporting our local community and small independent producers. Wherever possible, we prioritise stocking products that are made or grown within 70 miles. This not only helps reduce food miles and support sustainable practices, but also ensures our customers enjoy the freshest, most flavourful goods available. By celebrating the best of what our region has to offer, we want to create a connection between our customers and the products we are sharing with them. Our intention has been to ensure we have the things you need, and an abundance of the things you might not need – but most definitely want to treat yourself too.
